Peppermint essential oil is the cool breeze of summer on demand! Placing peppermint oil on the inner wrists or the back of the neck promotes a sense of coolness. If feeling the emotional heat of summer, or in other words you are feeling irritated, placing a few drops of peppermint oil on the scalp and/or over the heart will bring balance.
It is great to take the inflammation out of mosquito bites by applying a few drops directly to the bite. Peppermint oil also soothes headaches by placing a few drops at the temples, taking care though not to get to close to the eyes. If application to a specific area does not appeal to you, a very effective way of receiving peppermint’s benefits is application of the essential oil to the soles of the feet.
Peppermint essential oil has also traditionally been used to support healthy digestion. Other benefits of peppermint oil include improved concentration, mental acuity, mood, as well as reduction of physical pain, motion sickness, and inflammation.
When using peppermint essential oil on children or sensitive skin individuals, always dilute it with another oil such as unrefined, organic coconut oil. Also NEVER apply oil of any sort directly to broken skin or a fresh burn.

P.S. My favorite non-toxic mosquito repellent is from “All Terrain” and is called “Herbal Amour.” Remember what we put on skin is absorbed into our blood stream within 20 seconds and becomes part of us, so it is important to choose wisely.
