Roadtrips: A way to connect more deeply with your loved ones

Irene Carr: Deep listening heals and nothing else is required. Listening without the need to fix or defend or provide any type of response allows for understanding. When understanding arrives, compassion follows. Compassion has been said to be the highest form of love. Compassion has the ability to connect us to that “Peace which surpasses all understanding.” Blessed be!

Ahhh, summer time road trips!  Are you interested in connecting more deeply with your children or siblings?  Well, through happenstance, road trips are an excellent way to get cozier.

Healing

I recently had the pleasure of taking a road trip with one of my brothers and my sister.  We went to Thunder Bay, Ontario to see the Kakabeka Falls.  It proved to be a very healing event.

Trapped, yet engaged

In the car for three and half hours, I experienced feeling trapped, yet engaged. Some old hurt feelings surfaced, then I allowed the hurts to be communicated, and healing occurred.  Wow!   It has been said that all we need to do for another person is to really listen to them.

Understanding allows for Compassion

*One caveat though, minimize or eliminate the electronics on the road trip!
